Privacy Policy

Welcome to Appinoy("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our mobile application ("App") available on Android.
By downloading or using Appinoy, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information when you use Appinoy:
a. Account Information
- Full name, email address, and phone number provided during registration.
- Profile photo (optional).
- User role (Client, Service Provider, Product Provider, or Rider).
b. Location Data
Foreground location — used to display your position on the team map, set your home address, and show emergency alerts near you while the app is open.
Background location — collected only when you have explicitly joined a team AND enabled location sharing. When sharing is on, Appinoy continues to update your position on the team map even when the app is minimized or closed, so that team admins can always see team locations. A persistent notification is displayed on your device whenever background location access is active.
You can stop location sharing at any time by toggling the sharing switch inside the team map screen. Revoking the location permission from your device settings also immediately stops all location access.
c. Camera & Photos
- Camera access is used to capture photos or videos as evidence when submitting emergency reports.
- Photo library access is used to attach existing media to emergency reports.
- Media is only uploaded when you choose to attach it to a report.
d. Usage Data
- Emergency alerts you create or interact with.
- Teams you join or manage.
- Service listings, bookings, and transaction history.
- App logs and crash reports (used for debugging only).
2. How We Use Your Information
- Safety features — broadcasting emergency alerts to nearby users and providing real-time team location awareness.
- Account management — authentication, profile display, and role-based access.
- Team tracker — sharing your location with members of teams you have joined, only while sharing is enabled.
- Push notifications — sending alerts, team invitations, service updates, and important safety announcements.
- Service marketplace & e-commerce — connecting users with service providers and facilitating transactions.
- App improvement — diagnosing technical issues and improving performance using anonymized crash reports.
3. Background Location — Prominent Disclosure
Important notice about background location access
Appinoy collects location data in the background only when you have explicitly enabled location sharing within a team. This data is used solely to update your position on the team map so that other team members can see your location in real time. Background location is never collected passively, is never shared with advertisers, and is not used for any purpose other than the team tracking feature described above. You may disable this at any time through the app or your device settings.
4. How We Share Your Information
Appinoy does not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
a. Third-Party Service Providers
- Supabase — cloud database and authentication platform. Stores your account information, location rows, team data, and app content.
- Firebase (Google) — used exclusively for sending push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging). We do not use Firebase Analytics or Ads products.
- Google Maps Platform — displays the map interface on the team tracker screen. Your device sends coordinates to Google Maps to render the map tiles.
b. Other Team Members
When you enable location sharing in a team, your location (latitude, longitude, and display name) is visible to other active members of that team. The team admin sees all sharing members. You control this entirely through the sharing toggle.
c. Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by Philippine law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
5. Data Retention
- Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Deleting your account removes your profile and authentication record.
- Location data in the
user_locationstable is overwritten on each location update (we store only your most recent location, not a history). - Emergency report media uploaded to Supabase Storage is retained until you delete the report.
- Push notification tokens are removed when you uninstall the app or revoke notification permission.
6. Your Rights Under Philippine Law
Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, you have the right to:
- Be informed — know what personal data we collect and how it is used.
- Access — request a copy of your personal data we hold.
- Correct — update or correct inaccurate personal data.
- Erase or block — request deletion of your personal data when it is no longer necessary for the purpose it was collected.
- Object — object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.
- Data portability — receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used format.
- File a complaint — lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) of the Philippines.

7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), Supabase Row Level Security (RLS) policies that restrict database access to authorized users, and JWT-based authentication. While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure. Please use a strong, unique password for your account.
8. Children's Privacy
Appinoy is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of Appinoy after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
